Homebuyer's Bill of Rights You have the right
to representation equal to that of the seller in any real estate transaction. You have the right
to a contractual relationship with a real estate agent making him/her legally
accountable to you and not the seller. You have the right
to an agreement with a real estate agent to represent your best interests in
obtaining ownership of property. You have the right
to be treated as a client, not as a customer. You have the right
to professional assistance in searching all properties on the market,
including "For Sale By Owner" properties. You have the right
to an appraisal of the selected property and an explanation of property
values in the chosen areas. You have the right
to have contract offers properly prepared on your behalf and delivered promptly
to the seller or the seller's agent. You have the right
to professional assistance in shopping your loan package with lenders to obtain
the most favorable loan and rates. You have the right
to expect your move to be as simple and as enjoyable as possible. You have the right
to have professional assistance in arranging inspections, warranties, and other
certifications that might affect the value of the property. You have the right
to have professional assistance in reviewing closing papers for accuracy
before closing. You have the right
to have an agent who will represent only your interests during your
acquisition of real property, not the interests of any lender, insurance
company, or other vendor. You have the right
to demand that your agent not divulge confidential information to the listing
agent and/or seller. These are your
rights as a homebuyer. Don't let anyone take them away.
